Stratus, our entity screening engine, pulls data from 16+ government and public record sources, including:
- Sanctions Lists: OFAC SDN, UN Security Council, EU Consolidated List, and other international sanctions programs
- Court Records: Federal and state court filings, judgments, and case records
- Business Filings: State business registrations, corporate filings, and entity verification databases
- Public Records: Property records, professional licenses, and other publicly available data
All data comes directly from official government sources and public record databases. We update our data feeds daily to ensure currency.

Our screening results and intelligence reports are inputs into your decision-making process. Final decisions about whether to proceed with a transaction, engage a vendor, or take other actions remain yours.
Entity Matching and Review
Entity screening inherently produces matches that require human review. This is especially common with:
- Common names shared by multiple individuals or entities
- Transliterated names from non-Latin scripts
- Partial name matches and variations
- Aliases and alternative spellings
Stratus uses adaptive matching to catch variations that surface-level searches miss. We provide match scores and context to help you prioritize review. However, human review of potential matches is essential before making business decisions.
Audit Trail Retention
We maintain comprehensive audit logs of all document processing and screening activity for a minimum of five (5) years. This includes:
- Timestamp of each document upload and analysis
- Entities identified and screened
- Match results and confidence scores
- Lightning alerts and re-screening events
- All Soundings (intelligence reports) generated
These logs are structured for auditability and designed to support your record-keeping requirements.
Data Accuracy
While we pull data directly from official government sources and update our feeds daily, we cannot guarantee that our data is error-free or complete at all times. Government databases may contain errors, delays in updates, or incomplete records.
Note: Our intelligence reports represent the data available at the time of analysis. Circumstances can change, which is why Lightning monitors for updates and triggers re-screening when new information becomes available.
